I guarantee you, Pat Robertson is going to make big news headlines with his statement, “they got together and swore a pack to the devil” in speaking of the reason of recent events that took place in Haiti. Lately, during my studies, I’ve been thinking more and more about providence and my response to the situations in life. It takes awhile before I come to realize that it is by divine providence that such and such has happened. My prayer is to have that response immediately and not have that “woe is me” kind of attitude. (more..)
Every year I try to make a plan to read more, whether it be the Bible or some light reading from other reformed writers. It always seems to fall through because of the massive amount of reading I have to do for school. One thing I remember a professor saying when I started seminary, “don’t allow your seminary reading to become your daily devotional”. (more..)

Holy Lord, I have sinned times without number, and been guilty of pride and unbelief, of failure to find Thy mind in Thy Word, of neglect to seek Thee in my daily life. My transgressions and short-comings present me with a list of accusations, but I bless Thee that they will not stand against me, for all have been laid on Christ. Go on to subdue my corruptions, and grant me grace to live above them. Let not the passions of the flesh nor lustings of the mind bring my spirit into subjection, but do Thou rule over me in liberty and power. (more..)

Cessationism is the belief that the miraculous gifts (prophecy, tongues, healing) have ceased and that they were given only for the foundation of the church. (more..)
